National Standard Assessment Tests (SATs) week commences Monday 14th May 2018. Please ensure you do not plan any holidays or absences during that week. Children will be preparing for this weekly and will need encouraging to work at home as well. Thank you for your continued support in this.
Grammar: revision of all grammar and punctuation aspects for Year 6, in readiness SATs. Your child brought a colour brochure home for the Easter holiday, which explains terminology and has some exercises to practise, as well as answers to check their progress.
Spelling: The most important aspect of English this term is to focus on spellings, not only learning ALL the year 6 spelling words, but also using them in our writing regularly. A spelling list was sent home for the Easter holiday, to revise from.
Reading: Revision of Reading test papers and questions in readiness for SATs.
Writing: To use exciting Alan Peat sentence types to uplift writing, especially in non-fiction pieces.
Maths: using BODMAS and revising test papers on Reasoning questions.
Science: Animals including humans- incorporating relationships
Topic: Ancient Greece
RE: Creation and science: competing or complimentary?
PE: outdoor athletics and striking/ fielding games
Please note that due to the impending SAT testing in May, our timetable will allow plenty of opportunity for the children to be academically ready to take their tests.
